Buying Property in Thailand

I’m sure you have been reading the newspapers and various Property publications and are probably somewhat confused as to what is going on in Thailand in regards to the current changes in the Thai Government and also in the laws regarding Property Ownership and Company Formation. I will not try to explain anything here for this situation is changing minute by minute and there are no definite answers to anyone’s questions as of this time.

Regarding Freehold and Leasehold
Let me say that Freehold is still available in some cases, but most of the Builder/Developers on the island have re-structured their properties so that they can be also be offered Leasehold. I see a trend towards more Condos being offered as it is still the easiest way to acquire property in Thailand.

 

The bottom line is this.
Don’t believe everything you hear or read on websites or even in the Real Estate publications. Nobody has all the answers at this time.

Go slowly and ask questions. It is still a good idea to put your faith in a qualified Realtor, as it is our business to try and keep up to date and in the “loop” as to what is happening.
