Phuket Island is surrounded with beaches, all of them with their own character. We have put together a list of 24 beaches that you can visit on your trip to Phuket. To find the beach that suits you the most browse our listings Take a look at the pictures and panoramas from every beach in Phuket!

In Phuket you can find all kinds of beaches from the smallest to the biggest, or the most popular to the least popular. Phuket offers something for every taste, from the quick swim to the advanced diver, fisherman, surfer or sailor. There’s a beach for every one.

Remember that all the beaches are in Thailand and do please follow the local culture and rules. You should never sunbath or swim with out your bra in Thailand. This is offesive in the Thai culture. Never play with the wild animals on the beaches. This is a tropical country and many of the animals are dangerous. Do not play with the cats or dogs, they can have rabies. If you should be bitten or just come in contact with any sick animal visit a hospital directly to get advice on treatment and vaccinations.

NOTE: The sun is much stronger than you might think, use sun block higher than 20 the first days. If you get burned go to a Thai pharmacy and get the local treatment. It is cheap and works great!


Ao Sehn Beach

Ao Sehn Beach is a small bay with many rocks and corals. Snorkeling and diving are okay, but swimming without a mask could be dangerous among the corals. For sunbathers, this secluded, curving strand north of Nai Harn offers some privacy. The beach can be a great romantic hide out for the couples that like to spend some time alone.

Bang Tao Beach

Bang Tao is a large open bay with one of Phuket's longest beaches. It is a 8 km long sweeping crescent shaped bay with a gentle slope and absolutely pure white sand and is fringed with rows of caesarian trees.

Chalong Bay

Phukets principal boat anchorage and the islands largest bay. Ao Chalong has a long, flat shallow, muddy bottom. At ebb tide, water recedes as much as one kilometer. It is very picturesque but useless for swimming. Most visitors to the islands south of Phuket depart from Chalong pier, and the bay restaurants are well known for their seafood.

Freedom Beach

Freedom beach is a ten minute ride by longtail boat out and around the headland at the extreme southern tip of Patong Beach brings you to one of the most beautiful and isolated beaches on Phuket.

Kalim Beach

This beach is really a continuation north of Patong beach, from which some rocks separate it. It is not yet developed and thus affords some privacy. Back of the beach is accommodations. The water contains extensive coral reefs.

Kamala Beach

If you´re looking for a real getaway within a few minutes drive of Phuket’s nightlife and shopping areas, Kamala Beach is the place to go. It’s a piece of quiet paradise on the west side of Phuket, north of Patong on the Andaman Sea where the beach is quiet, beautiful, calm and safe. Accommodations are plentiful and designed to meet everyone’s budget.

Karon Beach

Karon beach the second largest of Phukets principal tourist beaches. Large resort complexes line the road back of the beach, but the strand itself is long and broad and has no development.

Kata Beach

Kata beach is the smallest of Phukets three main tourist beaches. Kata is different in appearance and style from Karon or Patong.

Kata Noi Beach

South of Kata Yai (Kata Beach) is Kata Noi, a smaller beach with only a few hotels and little other development. The beach is superb, there is allot of fish that inhabit the rocks and corals along the beaches shoreline-stretching south.

Leam Sing Beach

Leam Sing beach is not visible from the road but the small parking area is located about half way up the grade at the north end of Kamala Beach look for the small handmade signs.

Le Phang Beach

Le Phang Beach shares a common boundary with Bang Tao Beach and is located on the northern end where the beach merges with a river estuary and lagoon. Le Phang beach is a very beautiful area and is home to many birds and animals drawn to the marshy conditions.

Mai Khao Beach

Mai Khao Beach is many kilometres of deserted white sand beach with crystal clear water. So if you search for a remote and isolated beach where you can be all alone then Mai Khao Beach should be your first choice.

Nai Harn Beach

Nai Harn Beach is not yet as developed as the other tourist beaches on Phuket Island, this is due to the Samnak Song Nai Harn, a monastic center in the middle of the beach that claims most of the beachfront land.

Nai Ton Beach

Nai Ton Beach is a quiet bay nestled at the foot of high hills has a fine strip of sand. This is one of the most isolated beaches on the island. It is a peaceful, quiet cove, beautiful along its length, and well sheltered from wind and waves and offers wonderful swimming.

Nai Yang Beach

Nai Yang Beach is where the Nai Yang National Park offices are located. Nai Yang Beach itself is on a long curving bay lined with evergreens that provide shade to picnickers which is a very popular spot.

Nakhale Beach

Nakhale Beach is five minutes north of Patong there is a covered rest area with a spectacular view overlooking the bay. Nakhale Beach is a relaxing place to sit and watch as the waves of Andaman Sea smash against the rocks on both ends of this small turquoise blue bay with a rim of fine white sand.

Nui Beach

Nui Beach is a guaranteed remote beach experience that will rival anything you will find on the offshore islands, give this beautiful little beach paradise a try. You might be able to reach Nui Beach on a mountain bike or motorcycle but it is not recommended.

Pansea Beach

Pansea Beach is a small secluded quiet beach that has a special feeling and many agree it is the finest beach on Phuket island. Although Pansea Beach runs for only 250 meters it has fine white sand that glistens in the light and reflects off the clear blue sea.

Patong Beach

Patong Beach is the most popular beach in Phuket. Patong Beach is almost 3 km long and has a beautiful white sand and crystal clear water to swim in. Patong Beach it self is in a oval formation set in the middle of two green mountains.

Rawai Beach

Rawai Beach is 17 kms south of Phuket Town along Highway number 4024, site of a Chao Ley or Sea Gipsy village, a community of formerly nomadic fishing folk with their own language. Many of the young man have changed to land-based employment.

Relax Bay

Five minutes south of Patong Beach, as you climb the hill you will see a large hotel complex on your right. This is a good place to pull off to the side of the road for a minute and enjoy the scenery.

Siam Beach

Five minutes From the View Point, Right after the Veiw Point on the road to Leam Prom Them is a Small steep road, follow the road to its end and park there. You will need to walk a bit to reach this small paradise on earth. It is 1 of the most private and romantic places you will find in Phuket..

Surin Beach

A kilometer north of Laem Sing Beach lies the popular Surin Beach. As of now this beach has not been developed and it is a quiet and peaceful bay lined with a row of stately Casuarina trees. A tropical beach with pine trees rather than palm trees may seem out of place to many but the local Thais flock to this beach on weekends and holidays and bask in the shade provided by these unusual trees.

Yanoi Beach

A sleepy little hide away with interesting rock formations and good snorkeling from the beach. Located at the bottom of the hill between the Promthep viewpoint and the wind-powered generators on the next hill to the west, this beach is easy to drive past.
