Kalim Surfing Contest 2008
18-20 July
The 4th annual Kalim Surfing Contest, by Phuket Boardriders Club, will be held at Kalim Beach on July 18–20, 2008.
This contest aims to promote the sport of surfing to the general public as well as to promote tourism to the island of Phuket.
Foreign contestants come from a wide variety of countries, such as the United States, Australia, the UK, South Africa, the European Union, and Asian neighbors including Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

ESPN Star Sports Charity Golf & Dinner at Laguna
26 July
Fifteen members of the ESPN STAR Sports football broadcasting team and Peter Withe, former English football legend and coach of the Thai national football team, will visit Laguna Phuket to support Laguna’s initiative to improve conditions at underprivileged schools in Phang-nga.
The celebrities will play a charity golf tournament followed by a dinner at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, featuring fabulous auction prizes.
To enter the tournament golfers may choose a Corporate or Standard Team Package. Dinner-only tickets are 2,500 baht per person, inclusive of wine and beer. Team Packages and dinner tickets are sold at the Golf Club pro-shop.

The Queen's Birthday Celebrations

On the auspicious occasion of the royal birthday of Her Majesty the Queen, homes and public buildings throughout the Kingdom are decorated with glittering fairy lights as an expression of reverence and loyalty to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Around Bangkok, Ratchadamnoen Avenue, the area around the Grand Palace, and other historical landmarks and monuments are adorned with coloured lights and magnificent ornaments.

Boathouse Writer's Night with Jim Newport
13 August
James (Jim) Newport (www.vampireofsiam.com) is a writer and Emmy-nominated Production Designer of both film and television.
He wrote "The Vampire Of Siam" trilogy, which includes the first novel of the same name, followed by "Ramonne: The Return Of The Vampire Of Siam" and "The Reckoning: A Tale Of The Vampire Of Siam". The author’s latest work, "Chasing Jimi", is a novel about Jimi Hendrix and was just this month (May 2008).
The evening at the Boathouse will include readings from “Chasing Jimi” and a Q&A session with the author.

Phuket Fireworks Festival
August 2008
The Phuket Fireworks Festival sees 4000 spectacular explosions light up the night sky in one of Thailand's most popular resorts.
The scale of the display means that not only are the fireworks visible from their origin at Sapanhin Cove, but they can easily be enjoyed from vantage points on Rang Hill, restaurants and bars in Phuket Town and all around Phuket Bay. The organisers are hoping the festival will develop into a major international event.

Patong Carnival (Phuket Carnival)
1-3 November
Loud and colourful. Lots of visual entertainment and fun for visitors. Each year is slightly different, but the festival includes a parade, shows and concerts. Bangla Rd is lit up and turned into a walking street with food stalls, stage shows and other entertainment. Marks the start of the official high season in Phuket.

Phuket Thailand Open Beach Volley World Tour 2008
4-9 November
The 3rd Phuket Thailand Open women’s professional beach volleyball tournament, which is part of the 2008 SWATCH-FIVB Beach Volley World Tour, will be held on Karon Beach, Phuket from 4 – 9 November 2008.
The Phuket Thailand Open is one of 17 events on the world tour calendar and is the only event to be held in South-East Asia.
Besides the action on court, the Phuket Thailand Open has a thriving tent village where the tournament sponsors can organize activities and sell their products, this has helped to increase the attractiveness of the tournament for spectators resulting in capacity crowds over the finals weekend.

British Business Association Charity Golf Tournament

Good fun for a good cause. Every year the British Business Association of Phuket (BBAP), in conjunction with Blue Canyon Country Club, holds a Golf Tournament to benefit Childwatch Phuket, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse in all its forms and assisting and educating underprivileged children. The tournament is open to all and it's a great chance to help out Phuket's youth while enjoying one of the finest golf courses in all of Asia.

Phuket King’s Cup Regatta

The Phuket King's Cup Regatta is Asia's biggest and most popular regatta. More than a regatta, the week long event consists of great parties, great sailing and lots of fun. Inaugurated in 1987 to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Majesty the King of Thailand, the event has been held every year since during the first week of December.
With the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, the Regatta is organised by the Phuket King's Cup Regatta Organizing Committee under the auspices of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy and the Province of Phuket.

Laguna Phuket Triathlon
7 December
Southeast Asia's premier multi-sport event, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, presented by Thai Airways International, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Herbalife, is now in its 15th year.
The 1.8k swim, 55k bike ride and 12k run offers a US$20,000 pro prize purse.
The event expects to attract some 800 athletes from over 30 countries competing in both the individual triathlon and the Herbalife Corporate Challenge Team Relay.
A 6k fun run for 500 participants will also be conducted during the event.

Phuket Invitational Superyacht Rendezvous
